Yamaha electric guitar gets Eurovision showcase
Posted on 8 May 2009 14:19 to category : Instruments News
An electric guitar made by Yamaha is set to be showcased at the Eurovision Song Contest later this month.
The company announced that Danish entry Brinck will perform his song Believe Again - co-written by Ronan Keating - with Soren Anderson backing him up on a black Yamaha SG1000.
Anderson, a long-time Yamaha artist, has worked with the likes of Billy Sheehan and Dave Mustaine in the past and the musical instrument manufacturer suggested he will get the most out of the SG, as he is much more than an ordinary session musician.
The SG1000 is an offshoot of arguably Yamaha's most famous guitar, the SG2000, which is used by Carlos Santana.
It has many of the same characteristics as its sister model, but is designed to be more traditional and "rock-focused".
Approximately 600 million people will see the instrument in action when Anderson takes it on to the Eurovision stage on May 16th.
