Yamaha donates music instruments for charitable cause
The online auction has been set up to give support to Glory Days Music store in Joplin, Missouri, which was damaged when an EF5 tornado hit the town in May.
Some 155 people were killed.
Handled by the fame bureau, the online auction will sell music instruments that have been donated by Yamaha and other manufacturers.
This includes a five-piece acoustic drums set, which comes with hardware and paiste cymbals and a unique acoustic-electric guitar, which makes it extremely useful for musicians looking to quickly switch styles.
Garth Gilman, assistant general manager of Yamaha’s Pro Audio & Combo Division, said: "The utter devastation of the Joplin location of Glory Days Music was unbelievable. Yamaha is honoured to play a part in the rebuilding process."
David Peterson, the owner of the music store, expressed his gratitude for the charity shown by all parties involved.
"I didn’t think for one minute that someone would do something like that for me without asking for it. It’s an incredible gesture," he said.
Thousands of school children from Joplin gathered at the Missouri Southern State University campus for the I Am a Joplin event, which was organised to "reconnect" students with each other and their teachers following the tornado.
