Yamaha Music Foundation's 20th anniversary to be celebrated
Posted on 22 Apr 2010 12:58 to category : Music News

Musicians who have benefited from the support of the Yamaha Music Foundation over the past 20 years are to perform at a special concert next month.
More than 850 scholarships have been handed out by the foundation since its inception a fact that is to be celebrated with a series of concerts throughout Europe in April and May.
One the shows will take place in the Faber & Faber recital hall in London on May 6th 2010, with performances set to come from former scholars including pianist Graham Caskie, flute player Katie Bedford and singer Kathryn Rudge.
Caskie, who was one of the first people to benefit from the scheme, told MI-Pro that winning a scholarship from Yamaha was vital to giving him a chance to have a future as a musician.
"Were it not for awards like that of the Yamaha Scholarship it would quite simply not have been possible to study in the way I did," the piano player explained.
Earlier this year, £2,000 worth of funding was handed out to violinist Jiafeng Chen and cellists Mikhail Nemtsov and Yoshika Masuda by Yamaha after they were named as the best young orchestral strings musicians in the UK.
