While My Guitar Gently Weeps named as best acoustic Beatles song
George Harrison's version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps has been named as the best acoustic guitar song ever recorded by The Beatles.
According to a top ten list on the Gibson website compiled by columnist Michael Wright, Eric Clapton's adaptation of the track is rightly hailed as "amazing", but Harrison's acoustic guitar interpretation deserves equally great credit.
Other Beatles songs to make Mr Wright's top ten included Blackbird, Norwegian Wood and You've Got to Hide Your Love Away.
"From tender ballads like Yesterday and This Boy to rock 'n' roll classics like Love Me Do and No Reply, The Beatles made use of all the dynamic capacities of the acoustic guitar," the writer stated.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Beatles star Sir Paul McCartney is to be honoured at the White House in December.
The musician is to be presented with a Kennedy Center medallion at a dinner hosted by Hillary Clinton.
