What indeed! There was a promise of 'something' new, and the tag line 'now the evolution begins again'. Today, everything about Roland AIRA has been revealed, and we have the full specs and images from Roland.

14th February 2014

Roland AIRA arrives! After a long wait filled with speculation and guesswork based on some tantalising leaks, Roland have revealed full details about the AIRA Series. So what do we know?

There are four products. The TR-8 Rhythm Performer, TB-3 Touch Bassline, VT-3 Voice Transformer and SYSTEM-1 PLUG-OUT Synthesizer, which will all seamlessy integrate with each other.

The Roland AIRA Series emulates some of Roland's most-loved instruments, the TB-303, TR-808, 909 and the SYSTEM synthesizers.

Analog Circuit Behaviour technology features in all four new AIRA products. ACB means the original sounds can be fully recreated. This means the TR-8 will recreate the boom and snap of the 808, the thud of the 909 and the robotic click of an 808 rim shot or a classic 909 snare roll. You can switch between these sounds on the fly.

The TB-3, based on the legendary Roland TB-303 has evolved to include new features such as a pressure-sensitive touch-pad, dedicated tempo control and fully loaded with 134 sounds, sought after and new.

Not just for those robotic voice effects (although it does do them well!) is the VT-3 Vocal Transformer. With smooth and immediate controls and functions, you can turn your voice into synths, synth basses, hard-tuned and lo-fi vocals and more, with no popping, clicking or latency issues.

The SYSTEM-1 is a plug-out synthesizer, allowing you to host software recreations of classic Roland synths, on the system itself, with no computer required. Access a huge palette of sounds with that unmistakable Roland character, on an intuitive and fully automatic control interface.

Roland have released two new videos and two product images in the lead up to the release of the elusive AIRA launch in just 7 days time.

Check out the two new official Roland AIRA images below.

The first video explains ACB technology, how Analog Circuit Behaviour captures the sound and feel of their classics. Roland technicians say, "With this project we really focused on analog instruments. However, this does not mean we simply wanted to reproduce the analogue gear, rather that we wanted to create new technology to produce new electronic instruments, which meet the needs of today's music scene."

The second video lets us see and hear the AIRA series in action, the longest glimpse of the AIRA gear we've had so far.
