Weezer prepare to 'kick a*s'
Posted on 25 Aug 2010 07:00 to category : Music News

Weezer have become a "totally kick a*s live band".
The US rock group claim to have struck a new raw and aggressive sound for their forthcoming album 'Hurley' which, according to singer Rivers Cuomo, has helped bring a lot of new energy to the group.
'Buddy Holly' rocker Rivers said: "Weezer's become a totally kick-ass live band, and when we were making 'Hurley', you could just hear the sound of people going into the studio, pressing 'Record', and rocking"
"There's an insane amount of energy on songs like 'Where's My Sex' or Memories' and also even in the more intimate songs like 'Run Away' - lots of loose moments, out of tune moments, but tons of emotional expression."
Rivers, 40, also said he felt some of his original demos captured the feeling he was hoping for on the songs just right, so used them for the final recordings for the album.
He added to Spin magazine: "In some cases, my low-fi demos from home had the right feeling to them, so I just took my vocal track from them and put the rest of the song to that."
Rivers also claims 'Hurley' has the widest appeal of any of the group's albums to date.
He added: "Fans who like super raw, emotional stuff will be totally stoked with songs like 'Run Away' and 'Memories' and at the same time, there are just really great pop songs, with great melodies and hooks. So I think everyone's going to love it."
'Hurley' is released on September 13.
