Waukesha excited at the arrival of Gibson Les Paul guitars
Currently devoid of any colour, local artists in the Wisconsin city will be chosen to paint them in an array of hues, after which they will be dotted around in key locations for everyone to enjoy.
The sculptures are part of Gibson's GuitarTown project, which is a public arts initiative that celebrates music.
What makes this particular effort special is that Waukesha is the city in which Les Paul, the creator of the solid body guitar after which it is named, was born in.
Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson's chief executive officer and chairman, said last year that he was excited to bring GuitarTown to Les Paul's birthplace.
"It's exciting to give back to the town that produced the legend," he added.
A total of 15 guitars will be on display for a select period of time. When the project comes to an end, some will stay on permanently while others will be auctioned off.
