Vox DA-5 used in the desert
Posted on 9 Nov 2009 16:08 to category : Band / Celebrity News

MI Pro have recently reported that Vox amps have made their way to the Sahara desert.
Ibrahim Ag Alhabib, lead guitarist for band Tinariwen depends on his Vox DA-5 when his band travels out amongst the Sahara's sand dunes.
The compact DA-5 can run on batteries and after being strapped to the nearest camel, the highly portable DA-5 travels across the Sahara with this unusually placed guitarist.
The lightweight amp has been surprising guitarists worldwide with an array of guitar tones available, only usually found on much larger and expensive amp models.
The DA-5 delivers tones ranging from super clean to full overdrive (plus 11 digital effects) and help to make this small amp incredibly competitive within the lower price ranges of the guitar amplifier market.
Alahib commented that "I do like Vox - they're solid and have a very honest rock sound, which is what Im after for my music".
Alhabib is also very keen on the Vox AC30, made famous by Brian May (who used two AC30s at full blast to deliver his signature tone).
