Vivian Campbell 'loves solidity of Les Paul guitars'
The musician, whose distinguished career has seen him appear in bands such as Dio, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake and Def Leppard, told the Gibson Lifestyle website that he is a fan of both the physicality and tone of the Les Paul.
"I've always just felt that the Les Paul is more substantial than most others," Campbell said.
"There's always been an aggression in my playing - I really want to dig into the instrument - and the Les Paul allows me to do this more so than most others."
He added that he still has the first Les Paul he ever purchased and even knows its serial number.
Campbell explained he had to work for months and months to save up for the musical instrument and then wait it for arrive to his home in Northern Ireland.
He explained that it was worth it, as he used the guitar on Dio's first album and tour.
Another musician to praise Les Paul guitars recently is Rise Against's Zach Blair, who said they are ideal for playing rock and roll songs.
