Violinist 'loves being a professional musician'

Gwenllian Haf Richards has spoken about how privileged she feels to be a professional violinist.
She started out playing the violin in the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and has now progressed to become an important part of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
Ms Richards told Wales Online how thrilled she had been to be involved in a collaboration performance between the two orchestras when she was younger.
"I remember sitting in my first collaboration rehearsal of The Sorcerer's Apprentice under the baton of Grant Llewellyn, wondering why anyone would ever want to do anything else but orchestral playing for a living," she recalled.
Ms Richards said she feels an enormous sense of achievement in having managed to forge a professional career on the violin.
According to recent research reported in the Independent, playing the violin helped 84 per cent of children improving their reading standard by two levels.
