Violinist Bell 'inspires' schoolchildren
Top violin player Joshua Bell was a "great inspiration" this week when he visited and performed alongside a group of schoolchildren in the US.
Nine-year-old Victoria Giraldi, who was among the 30 budding musicians to meet the American virtuoso at Harlem's Mt Carmel-Holy Rosary catholic school on May 7th, told the Epoch Times she was thrilled to meet the classical superstar.
"He just talked about how music comes from the heart and how he's so dedicated to it," she remarked. "I hope to be a great musician someday, to be a great violinist."
Bell took his rare Stradivarius violin along to the Education Through Music Gala and joked that it would be valued at about $20,000 (£13,296) on The Antiques Roadshow when asked by one of the children. Its true value is thought to run well into seven figures.
It is likely that he will play the instrument when in London later this year for two performances at the BBC Proms.Posted on 8 May 2009 10:22 to category : Band / Celebrity News
