Violin player talks parents and practice

Nicola Benedetti says her parents told her to practice each day when she was younger.
Great deals on musical instruments
Nicola Benedetti, the violin player, says that her parents told her to practice each day when she was younger - something that many music instrument players will no doubt be familiar with!

She admits, though, that she probably "kicked up a fuss" sometimes – something else many music instrument players will recognise.

"I do remember one time very clearly. My mum said: 'You don't have to play the violin. If you don't want to practise, you don't want to play'," she told the Daily Record.

It seems this did the trick and made Nicola want to put in practice time. "I was so distraught by her even suggesting that. I thought, ‘If that's the option, I will practise'" she added.

Nicola Benedetti's LPs include Italia and Fantasise. She's set to take part in The Last Night of the Proms next month.

Kicking off last month on the 13th, the annual musical event is due to finish on September 8th this year.
