Velvet Underground's Moe Tucker 'embodies the perfect drummer'

Connor Hanwick, the man behind the drum kit in hotly-tipped band The Drums, has spoken about his musical inspirations.
Talking to the Independent about who would be in his perfect band, Hanwick nominated the Velvet Underground's Moe Tucker as the best candidate to take up the drum sticks.
He said she embodies the "perfect drummer" due to her minimalist approach to the art of playing.
"Drummers should be sort of nondescript, they should stick to the basics and never be showy," said Hanwick. "There's no more unattractive trait in a drummer than one who is overplaying."
He added that he would also like to have Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo on the guitar, as well as John Lurie from the Lounge Lizards on saxophone.
Hanwick and the rest of The Drums are set to play at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals, which are taking place towards the end of this month (August 27th to 29th).
