Van Halen bassist reveals top 3 guitarists
Posted on 5 Mar 2009 17:30 to category : Instruments News
Michael Anthony, former bassist for rock quintet Van Halen, has revealed which musicians he believes are the top bass players of all time.

He named Harvey Brooks from Electric Flag as "the first reason I got into playing bass" and insisted that young players cannot go wrong by seeking him out.
John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin also made his list as the second biggest influence on his musical career.
And he said Jack Bruce from Cream taught him that it is possible to "go anywhere" with a bass part, provided you can "hold down the groove".
"I guarantee, if you listen to these guys, you'll improve as a player," he remarked.
Anthony is currently part of a band known as Chickenfoot with former Van Halen bandmate Sammy Hagar, guitarist Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.
