Usher's prophetic 'Papers'
Posted on 30 Mar 2010 07:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Usher said his song 'Papers' came true, with his marriage breaking down after he recorded it.
The US R'n'B singer - who split with wife Tameka Foster last year - said the song, in which the fictional protagonist says he's "turned into the man I never thought I'd be" and is ready to sign divorce papers was strangely prophetic.
He explained to MTV News: "I think people would have immediately alluded to the fact I was talking about my wife when I made that record - and now my ex-wife.
"I felt that in a way, the story did touch on certain things at the time. I didn't know how realistic it would become. I didn't know I would become divorced.
"There was some reality in the contrast of trying to make it all work, having to balance a career and having a normal life."
Last year Tameka denied there were any links between the song and themselves, saying it was "just entertainment" and "people shouldn't take it literally".
The song was originally written by Sean Garrett, who has a long working relationship with Usher, but said he didn't realise about the state of his relationship at the time.
He previously said: "Let's say I wrote a record for Usher where I really didn't have any idea of what he was going through personally. Me and Usher have a close relationship; I tend to sort of assist certain artists in giving them a direction, where I think they need to go in their next move."
Usher's album 'Raymond v. Raymond' is released in the US today (30.03.10) and in the UK next month.
