Unusual brass tuba on show at Edinburgh uni
A rather unusual brass tuba which has two heads has gone on show at the University of Edinburgh.
It joins a helicon, which is a tuba-like instrument designed to be worn around the body, and a selection of snake-like brass instruments aptly known as serpents.
Speaking to the Edinburgh News, Norman Rodger, of the university, said: "We hope the exhibition serves as an introduction to the fascinating world of musical instruments."
And for anyone not able to make it north of the border to see this fascinating collection of music instruments, there will be a digital version of the collection available shortly.
Once completed, it will be at the centre of Europe's first digital archive of major musical instruments.
The Edinburgh University Collection of Historic Instruments is housed in the Reid Concert Hall Museum of Instruments and the St Cecelia's Hall Museum of Instruments.
It contains instruments from numerous nations and time periods, including a Sereu end-blown flute from Uganda and a Sanxian spike lute from China which dates back to 1872.
