Ukulele orchestra to play charity concert
A special charity performance is to be given by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain later this month.
They will be playing a one-off show in aid of Amnesty International on January 28th, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to the non-profit organisation, reports MI-Pro.
The show will be held at the charity's Human Rights Action Centre and people who want to watch the orchestra in action will be asked to pay £20 for a seat at the event.
Amnesty is selling the show as a rare opportunity to see the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain in an intimate setting, as the internationally-acclaimed group have previously played shows in larger venues such as the Royal Albert Hall.
They have also performed at Carnegie Hall in New York in the past.
The orchestra have also featured in hit teen drama Skins, while they were involved in one particularly memorable concert during a recent tour of New Zealand.
At a rehearsal for the Kiwilele Festival 2010, the group was joined by more than 2,000 ukulele-playing students to perform some renditions of a number of classic tunes, with the results of the collaboration being posted on YouTube.
