UB40 in Red Red whine
UB40's electric guitar player has revealed that the veteran band have stopped rehearsing their biggest hit Red Red Wine.
Robin Campbell said the group are "bored to tears" with the song, which reached number one in 1983.
However, he stated that the song still features in UB40's setlists because it is one of the songs the audience wants to hear.
"You can be as tired of it as you like but they're not," Campbell said.
Indeed, he said that the song "takes on a new life again" when it is performed on stage, as the audience may not have heard it played live for several years.
The comments come in the wake of singer Ali Campbell's departure from the long-running band, which has notched up other hits including I Got You Babe and Can't Help Falling In Love.
His brother Duncan is taking to the mic in his place on their upcoming European tour, which comes to UK venues such as the O2 Arena in December.Posted on 22 Oct 2009 10:47 to category : Band / Celebrity News
