UB40 declared bankrupt
UB40, the British reggae band from Birmingham, might have sold 70 million plus records but that hasn't stopped them from running out of cash.
At Birmingham Crown Court, a judge declared Brian Travers, Terence Oswald, Jimmy Brown and Norman Hassan as bankrupt.
With a career spanning an astonishing 33 years, fans of the band were shocked to hear about the news – after all, they're still performing live music as an outfit.
According to the Telegraph, the bankruptcy case centres around UB40's management company DEP International, which caused major ruptures within the band.
This resulted in Ali Campbell, the band's former frontman, and Mickey Virtue, quitting in spectacular fashion.
Campbell's spokeswoman said: "It is ironic that the very week they celebrate their first gig they have been declared bankrupt, after administration began in 2006, vindicating both Ali and Mickey Virtue's decision to leave UB40."
Some of their biggest hits include Can't Help Falling in Love, I Got You Babe and Red Red Wine.
