U2 crowned world's top earning musicians
Posted on 20 Jul 2010 18:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Electric guitar band U2 have been named the world's top earning musicians by Forbes magazine.
According to the publication, the group managed to amass a fortune of $130 million (£85 million) in the last year on the back of their sell-out global tour and their No Line on the Horizon album.
It went on to predict that - following the continuation of their tour into 2011 due to some concerts being postponed - it is likely that U2 will top the list again next year.
The veteran Irish rock band are not the only electric guitar players who made it into the top ten, with acts including AC/DC and Bruce Springsteen joining them in the countdown.
For the girls, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Madonna all made it into the top ten, with product endorsements providing the bulk of their earnings.
The news could encourage more young people to pick up an electric guitar, with research by the University of London finding children are looking to play them as well as drums and keyboards.
