U2 confirmed as Glastonbury headliner
U2 will be bringing their electric guitars to Glastonbury Festival this year as one of the event's headline acts, it has been confirmed.
The band were due to perform at the event in 2010 but had to pull out following an injury to Bono, meaning Gorillaz took to the stage in their place.
But they will make amends for their last year's cancellation this summer, playing on the Pyramid Stage on the Friday night (June 24th) of the bash.
Electric guitar player The Edge said he was already feeling positive about the show, especially after he played with Muse at Glastonbury 2010.
"We're all looking forward to coming back to pick up where I left off and we're so excited to get to play in front of the world's greatest festival audience," he stated.
Along with U2, the other headline acts for the event have been confirmed as Coldplay and Beyonce.
Earlier this month, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis said festivalgoers should be looking forward to the performance from the former Destiny's Child star, as she had seen Beyonce perform live last year and was "blown away by the might of the show".
