U2 cancel Glastonbury appearance
U2 have had to pull out of headlining Glastonbury due to lead singer Bono undergoing emergency surgery on his back.
The electric guitar band had been set to make their first-ever appearance at the festival this year, but doctors told Bono he will need at least eight weeks to recover from his operation.
"I'm heartbroken," the U2 star said in a statement.
"We really wanted to be there to do something really special - we even wrote a song especially for the festival."
While no comment has yet come from event organiser Michael Eavis about who will take the place of U2, earlier today (May 25th 2010) electric guitar legend Jimmy Page told BBC 6 Music he would not rule out Led Zeppelin reforming to perform at the event if they were asked.
This year's festival is to feature performances from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Muse and Dizzee Rascal.Posted on 25 May 2010 21:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
