U2: We're close to being irrelevant
The Irish rockers have said that they need to continue producing high quality new music with any future studio album they make if they are to "survive".
Speaking to the Sun, frontman Bono feels like the band, though still extremely successful if their last global tour is anything to go by, are bordering on the edge of the industry.
"We've been on the verge of irrelevance for the last 20 years, dodged, ducked, dived, made some great work, I hope, along the way – and the occasional faux pas."
"But this moment now, for me feels like really close to the edge of relevance. We can be successful and we can play the big music and the big places."
On the eve of reissuing their seminal 1991 album Achtung Baby, the singer and activist admitted that their last album had not been their best body of work.
U2, which consists of Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr, were formed in 1976.
Their hits include I Will Follow, With Or Without You and I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.Posted on 31 Oct 2011 12:34 to category : Band / Celebrity News
