Tributes paid to drummer Steve Reid
Tributes have been paid to drummer Steve Reid, who has passed away at the age of 66.
Reid began a long and successful career in the world of music at the age of 16, going on to work with artists such as Martha and the Vandellas, Miles Davis and James Brown.
The drummer's last studio album came out in 2008 and involved a collaboration with Kieran Hebden, who is better known as Four Tet.
Hebden paid a heartfelt tribute to Reid when speaking to NME, stating that his friend had lived a fantastic life and left the world with some great music.
"The music and adventures we shared have been some of the most happy and meaningful experiences I've ever had [he was] a true inspiration," he added.
Reid has also been remembered by Stephen Graham from Jazzwise Magazine, who said that the musician had left the audience "hanging on every drum beat" when he performed in London last November.Posted on 14 Apr 2010 13:46 to category : Music News
