Travis Barker 'grateful to be able to play the drums again'
Blink 182 star Travis Barker has revealed he feared he would not be able to get behind a drum kit again after being involved in a plane crash in 2008.
The musician had just started work on solo album Give The Drummer Some when the accident occurred and he had to undergo a long period of recovery, including 16 operations.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Barker said it had been a difficult period of his life, with his left hand being completely numb for a time.
"No one really thought I would be able to play drums after all the surgeries and everything," he explained.
But once he did manage to get his musical abilities back, the Blink 182 man was determined to make the most of his opportunity.
"Once I was in the studio, it was like, 'I can walk now, I can play the drums still. I have to finish this'," Barker recalled.
The drummer will join the rest of Blink 182 in taking part in a UK arena tour this summer.
They will play shows in Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Manchester and London during July, as well as appearing at T in the Park.
