Tom Morello 'combines rock style with hip-hop rhythms'
Tom Morello, the electric guitar player best known for his work in Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, has developed a unique style using a number of influences.
This is according to Peter Hodgson, a contributor to the Gibson Lifestyle blog, who explained the star has always had an "unwavering dedication" to surprising his audience with what he is playing on the guitar.
"His riffs draw on the legacy of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath combined with the rhythms of hip-hop, while his leads and innovative use of effects have no obvious direct ancestry - they're pure creativity and inspiration," he said.
Mr Hodgson went on to name what he considers to be Morello's finest moments on the electric guitar, selecting Rage classics such as Bulls on Parade and Testify, as well as Audioslave tracks like Cochise and Like a Stone.
The writer claimed Morello's pinnacle was reached with Rage's Killing in the Name, for the way in which his riff, combined with the use of a Whammy Pedal, helped the song bridge the divide between rap and hard rock.
Rage recently played three dates in South America, performing in front of fans in Brazil, Chile and Argentina during October.
