Tom Jones brushes off heart scare rumours
The Welsh crooner Tom Jones has issued a statement to put an end to rumours he has suffered a heart scare.
Jones, who is 71, was set to play at Monte Carlo at the weekend, but, after feeling weak, was admitted to hospital.
The superstar was found to be suffering from severe dehydration and was ordered by doctors to recuperate.
His spokesman put out a statement saying it was "extremely disappointing" for Sir Tom, the band and all connected with the tour to have cancelled the show.
"This was the last date of a very successful three-month tour, where many of the shows were in locations that were in the throes of high summer heat," said the spokesman. "There are NO heart problems, as has been reported in the press."
The spokesman added that Jones hopes to see his loyal fans in Monte Carlo very soon.
Jones first hit the big time with his song It's Not Unusual and has gone on to have a very successful career that has seen him work with Burt Bacharach, cover Prince's Kiss and jam with Take That star Robbie Williams.
