Tim Minchin entertains fans on Yamaha grand piano
The star, who regularly intersperses his routine with self-written songs, played the musical instrument in front of 10,000 fans with the backing of the 55-piece Heritage Orchestra.
His abilities were praised in a review of the show by the Daily Telegraph, which described Minchin as an "insanely gifted" individual, noting that he has also recently composed "one of the best new musicals for ages" in Matilda.
"The evening, which begins with a full-throttle send up of the messianic egotism of arena acts, is packed with a sublime, self-puncturing humour," the newspaper said.
Minchin is to take his Yamaha grand piano to three more live shows in the UK before Christmas, starting with a performance in Cardiff tonight (December 16th 2010).
He is then scheduled to play Manchester and Nottingham, before heading back out on the road again in February 2011, when he will tour Australia with the support of a variety of symphony orchestras.
Minchin is also lined up to play three shows in Scotland in April next year.
