Posted on 25 Sep 2012 16:07 to category : Music News

Conductor Thomas Søndergård is going to be putting his baton to use on principal orchestral conductor duties for the first time.
"I'm thrilled to be able to perform one of my favourite pieces in my first concert as principal conductor," he has revealed.
The piece in question is Sibelius' Fifth, which Mr Søndergård says "is about achieving an over-arching sense of space and wonderment in the music".
The orchestra, with Mr Søndergård's help, will be using their music instruments to play this piece come next month, on October 12th.
The venue for the occasion is set to be St David's Hall in Welsh capital Cardiff.
The BBC's Proms recently came to a close, having been held between July 13th and September 8th this year..
