Thief nabs cello in bold raid
Rosy Hunt's valuable cello and two bows, which cost $55,000 (approximately £35,141) and $25,000 (approximately £15,973) respectively, were taken from her outside her home, reported the Caufield Glen Elra Leader.
Speaking to the news provider, she explained she was standing in the driveway when she heard a car pull up.
"I thought it was a gardening man as they were doing work next door," she said.
"I had left the cello on the nature strip for just 30 seconds while I strapped my daughter in to the other car. When I got back I saw [the thief] noisily drive off at speed and then I realised [the cello] was gone."
The musician has offered a $1,000 (approximately £639) reward for any information that leads to the discovery of the instrument.
It comes with a distinctive blue case and a label stating R & M Millant, Paris 1952.
The BBC recently aired a documentary on the famous cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, taking a candid approach in revealing the story behind the musician's life and rise to fame.
