The Who plan new LP
Writing on his blog, the music veteran said he is currently writing a new musical in the style of Tommy and Quadrophenia.
The project will explore themes such as growing old and will include musical montages and "complex" sound effects.
However, Townshend said some of the more conventional songs could appear on a new Who album within the next year.
"As a 19-year-old, with My Generation, I wrote the most explicitly ageist song in rock," Townshend commented.
"At 64, I now want to take on ageing and mortality."
He added that the "ambitious" project would be entitled Floss and tell the story of an ageing pub musician and his wife.
The Who have not released any new material since Endless Wire in 2006.
This was their first album without bass guitar player John Entwistle, who died four years earlier.Posted on 27 Aug 2009 14:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
