The Who: Quadrophenia's our best album ever
Speaking at a Q&A session at Bus Hall in London, the guitarist called it the English rock legends best ever record.
"I've always felt that 'Quadrophenia' was the last definitive Who album. I've always regarded it as a very ambitious album, but what got away was the story," he told audience members at an event to mark the re-release of their epic album.
"To me it felt like it was the end. The reason I've spent so much time working on this new edition is because it's an epochal record, the last great record by the Who."
He added that the other landmarks albums included Tommy, which was released in 1969, and Who's Next, which came out in 1971.
Following on from those two albums was Quadrophenia, which hit the shelves in 1973, a tripartite of records that defined the band as one of the greatest rockstars of the early 70s.
