The Strokes 'to release new album in March'
Indie stars The Strokes are to bring out their new album on March 22nd, it has been claimed.
According to the Direct Current Music website, this date was the one listed for the release of the electric guitar band's next record on an internal schedule from the RCA label.
This will be preceded by an opening single from the record, which is due to be sent out to radio stations during February.
The new album from The Strokes will be their first since 2006, when they brought out First Impressions of Earth.
Since then, members of the band have been engaged in various solo projects, with lead singer Julian Casablancas bringing out Phrazes For The Young and guitarist Albert Hammond Jr managing to release two solo albums of his own during the group's sabbatical.
Earlier this month, Casablancas took to social networking site Twitter to post an image of what he claimed will be the cover art for the next Strokes album.
The picture, which has sparked heated debate among fans about whether it is a hoax, features a drawing of a clown and a basketball player sat in front of a rainbow and a waterfall.
