The Specials to record again?
Posted on 14 Sep 2010 07:00 to category : Music News

The Specials have hinted they may record a new album next year.
The UK ska band - who originally broke up in 1980 after two albums, before reforming in 2008 for a huge reunion tour - have been overwhelmed by the reaction to their reformation, and are keen to continue where they left off.
Singer Terry Hall said: "The kids seem to have picked it up from their mums and dads and older brothers and so forth and it's fantastic, a brilliant thing to know.
"And we think going forward is a healthy thing to do. We've discussed things that will take us on a slightly different route. It will be different to what we've done, just because it has to be really, because we can't keep doing the same set."
Drummer John Bradbury said he felt the 'A Message To You Rudy' group were cut off in their prime but now feel ready to follow up their two studio albums with the band's original line up 'Specials' and 'More Specials'.
He added to BBC6 Music: "We need to combine elements of what we've done before with what we've always wanted to do.
"When we stopped working, on our second album we weren't very far down the road. And we were shattered we were overworked and we couldn't carry on. Now we've had a nice long break and they opportunity now presents itself to move on from where we left off.
"And we have to maintain that level of excitement for us, I think, or its pointless doing it."
The reformed group features the band's original line up, apart from lead songwriter Jerry Dammers.
