The Specials' modern band moan
Posted on 4 Feb 2010 07:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News

The Specials can't understand why bands aren't rebellious anymore.
Terry Hall, frontman of the British ska band, - who announced last year that they would embark on a 30th anniversary tour - thinks most groups are now too manufactured and don't stick up for what they believe in.
Terry said: "I find it very hard that a teenage kid doesn't want to do that anymore. It's totally gone. I mean there's always been plastic bands... there has always been manufactured music, but now there's no rebellion.
"I only get to see bands when we play festivals and most of the time I just think, 'why are you in a band? What are you trying to say to people? Why are you f***ing bothering?' "
Guitarist Lynval Golding said he thought The Specials were "excellent" compared to other bands around at the moment who he had very little respect for them.
He told NME magazine: "I just think we're an excellent band and that really became apparent again playing at festivals when you have to share the same stage with bands that you have no respect for.
"They're good songs. It doesn't matter what year, month or venue it is. It's about feeling comfortable doing it and also feeling relevant. As long as we feel that, that's enough."
