The Rolling Stones to headline Glastonbury festival
An announcement was made on the event's official website on Wednesday (March 27th) evening, and confirmation of one of the worst-kept secrets in music was unleashed on the awaiting public.
Speaking about the Rolling Stones' slot, front man Mick Jagger tweeted: "Can't wait to play Glastonbury. I have my wellies and my yurt!"
The news about the iconic band's appearance had already been leaked by Kasabian guitarist Serge Pizzorno who, when speaking about their headline show at Hard Rock Calling on the same weekend, told MTV News that Jagger and co would be taking to the Glastonbury stage.
While the Rolling Stones have not appeared at the festival before, for Arctic Monkeys it is their second headline slot in the space of six years, with the Sheffield four piece having topped the bill in 2007 alongside The Killers and The Verve.
There are a number of big names throughout the line-up with the likes of Smashing Pumpkins, Editors, The Vaccines, Rita Ora, Dizzee Rascal and Alt-J all appearing over the weekend.
