The Rolling Stones final tour?
Posted on 8th Sep 2010 16:30 to category Music News
The Rolling Stones may embark on a huge 50th anniversary tour in 2011 - which could be their last.
The band's drummer, Charlie Watts, said the group - who are aged between 63 and 69 - cannot afford
to plan as far ahead as before, and may embark on one last huge tour next year.
He told Le Parisien newspaper: "We said that if we do something, it will be next year or the year after. We've reached an age where you can't look too far into the future."
The Rolling Stones' last tour, in support of their 'A Bigger Bang' album - which featured some 144 concerts, is the highest grossing of all time.
Meanwhile a digitally remastered version of an obscure 1972 film of the band in concert has been re-released. The film, called 'Ladies and Gentlemen... The Rolling Stones' originally opened in a limited number of British cinemas in 1973, and pieced together footage from several shows by the band in Texas in 1972.
In a video introduction to the film, lead singer Mick Jagger said: "Everyone's very together and on.
"I can remember the Rolling Stones being very, kind of, lackadaisical, very sloppy band on stage. But this was obviously not the case on this day."
In the film the group - with the lineup of Mick, Charlie guitarists Keith Richards and Mick Taylor and bassist Bill Wyman - play some classic songs from their late 60s period, including 'Brown Sugar' and 'Jumpin' Jack Flash', as well as tracks which were new at the time, such as 'Tumbling Dice' and 'Sweet Virginia' which were later included on their 'Exile On Main Street' album, which was also re-mastered and re-released earlier this year.
