The Replacements have confirmed they will play their first live shows for 22 years.

The US band have inspired some of punk rock's finest over the years with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong explaining that attending one of their gigs "changed my whole life" while the likes of The Cribs, The Goo Goo Dolls and They Might Be Giants have also cited them as inspiration.

Founding members Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson form part of the live line-up which will play three dates on the North American travelling rock show Riot Fest.

The Replacements will be headline acts at the Toronto leg over August 24th and 25th moving on to Chicago (September 13th to 15th) and Denver (September 21st and 22nd).

Westerberg and Stinson reuinted in October last year and recorded a limited edition covers EP with only 250 copies pressed on 10" vinyl and then auctioned off.

The rest of the band's line-up will be announced in the build-up to Riot Fest.

The Replacements will be joined by the likes of Blink 182, Iggy and the Stooges, Fall Out Boy, AFI and Rancid among others over the various shows.
