The Monkees' Davy Jones has passed away
Helen Kensick, Jones' publicist, announced the news that the singer of the hit 60s pop band had passed away last night (February 29th).
Speaking to the BBC, the renowned music journalist Paul Gambaccini described Jones as a musician with "phenomenal" charisma.
"The pop world at that time loved The Beatles and that north-western English sound was something that America wanted, when they put together the so-called Pre-Fab Four," he added.
Jones, along with Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork and Micky Dolenz were a unique pop entity in that they also had a popular TV show.
He was the only British member of the band, having been born and raised in Manchester.
The Monkees' were famous for catchy tunes like I'm A Believer, Last Train to Clarksville, Daydream Believer and Pleasant Valley Sunday.
