The Mars Volta and Opeth added to Sonisphere line-up
Two new additions have been made to the bill for the Sonisphere Festival, with The Mars Volta and Opeth joining the line-up.
The Mars Volta's set will be their only UK festival appearance of 2011 and follows the recent completion of their sixth studio album, which has yet to be given a title.
Electric guitar player Omar Rodriguez-Lopez said the band are looking forward to playing at Sonisphere.
"Everything I've heard about the festival has been positive, I'm sure it'll be great," he stated.
"Playing live for me is the best part of being in a band, I can't wait to get back out there. I'm excited to play the new songs."
The Mars Volta will perform on the same day Biffy Clyro take to the Apollo Stage for their headline set.
Meanwhile, Opeth frontman Mikael Akerfeldt explained he is also anticipating the bash, especially as he particularly enjoys playing in front of British crowds.
Sonisphere is taking place at Knebworth House between July 8th and 10th and is to feature performances from the likes of Metallica, Slayer, Slipknot, Weezer and Limp Bizkit.
Motorhead, Killing Joke, Sum 41 and You Me at Six are also on the bill.
