The Libertines reform for Reading
Posted on 29 Mar 2010 10:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

The Libertines are reforming to headline the Reading and Leeds Festivals.
The cult British indie group - fronted by Carl Barat and Pete Doherty - have signed up to headline the festivals in August this summer, but sources close to them say the band, which also includes John Hassall and Gary Powell, could make their reunion permanent if the show goes well.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "They have agreed to play at Reading and Leeds. If it works out they will consider writing new material. The four of them only agreed to it after a secret rehearsal to see if it still worked.
"Carl is nervous about the reunion because he is worried Pete could let him down again. But Pete's promised he will give his all for the gigs."
Pete's actions put the band in jeopardy in 2003 after he burgled Carl's flat. He was then eventually dismissed from the band in 2004, due to on his ongoing problems with drugs.
The band released two critically acclaimed albums in their career 'Up The Bracket' and 'The Libertines', and although they briefly carried on without Pete, they split up for good in December 2004.
Pete, 31, and Carl, 31, went on to front Babyshambles and Dirty Pretty Things respectively, but have played together three times since the band parted ways. The festivals will, however, be the first full scale reunion for the band.
The rest of the line-up for the Reading and Leeds Festivals is due to be announced later today (29.03.10).
