The Futureheads have opted for spiky guitar lines on their new record, one of the band members has explained.

The Futureheads' electric guitar player Ross Millard has said the band have gone back to their roots for their new album.

Speaking to the Herald, Millard said the group feel they have had more creative freedom since splitting from previous record label Warner Bros and setting up their own one – Nul Records.

The electric guitar player said the last album the group released was filled with as many big choruses as possible as part of an attempt to do something different.

"Now we've gone back to the original blueprint and tried to have a few more twists and turns and spiky guitar lines," he explained of The Chaos, which reached stores earlier this week.

The Futureheads are set to start a tour in support of the album today (April 29th 2010) in Glasgow, before playing shows in England throughout May.

They will play gigs in Manchester, Birmingham, London, Coventry and Sheffield.
