The Drums to collaborate with Shangri-Las singer
Posted on 24 Jun 2010 20:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Hotly-tipped indie band The Drums have announced their intentions to collaborate with Mary Weiss.
Weiss was the lead singer in 1960s girl group the Shangri-Las, a band best known for their hit The Leader of the Pack.
Jonathon Pierce, frontman of The Drums, explained to Spinner that he had the idea of writing an album with Weiss and has made contact with her.
Although she has not yet met Pierce face-to-face, he said she seems "really excited" about the prospect of collaborating.
"We try to write simple, classic pop melodies," Pierce added. "That's what those '60s girl groups did so well, so it makes sense. This is the thing that I'm most excited about."
The Drums are soon set to play in the UK, with an appearance at Glastonbury Festival on June 27th being followed with a show in Cambridge two nights later.
They will also be one of the support acts for King of Leon's mammoth gig in Hyde Park on June 30th.
