A spectacular stage show will be put on by The Darkness as they return to live music at the Download Festival.

Reformed electric guitar band The Darkness will perform a "concise hour of hits" when they make their comeback at the Download Festival.

This is according to Andy Coppinger, the man responsible for booking acts for the bash, who told NME there will be plenty for fans of the group to look forward to when they play their set.

He said The Darkness will be bringing a "tremendous stage show" to the event on June 10th, when the rockers will play before main headliners Def Leppard.

Following a five-year hiatus for the electric guitar band, their decision to reform was confirmed last month.

Ahead of their performance at Download, the group are working on a new album at a studio in East Anglia.

Frontman Justin Hawkins has said he is nervous about performing at the festival.

"The idea of playing Download terrifies us," he stated.

"We played in an early slot on the main stage in 2003 and we were frightened then. It's reassuring to know that nothing has changed."

Other acts on the bill for the show include System of A Down, Linkin Park, Bullet For My Valentine and Avenged Sevenfold.
