The Cribs cancel Coachella
Posted on 16 Apr 2010 16:30 to category : Music News

The Cribs have cancelled their appearance at the Coachella festival in the US this weekend.
The British band had to concede defeat in their bid to appear at the Californian festival - which takes place this weekend - after volcanic ash from an eruption in Iceland grounded all air traffic out of the KU yesterday (15.04.10).
The group - who are based in the North of England - had tried to drive to Holland's capital, Amsterdam, in order to catch another flight, but still hadn't left the country this morning.
Guitarist Johnny Marr wrote on the band's MySpace page: "Unfortunately, despite a Herculean effort we won't be able to play at Coachella this year.
"We are pretty gutted to be frank, currently languishing in the grimmest ferry port after waiting for good news about free airspace that never came."
Other UK bands whose appearances at the festival are in doubt include Delphic, Los Campesinos!, Bad Lieutenant, Frightened Rabbit and Gary Numan.
Electro rock pioneer Gary is due to play the festival on Sunday, but has only been offered flight on the same day, which may not get him to the site in time.
He said: "We are still waiting to find out there are any better alternatives. Very upsetting to see such a huge opportunity slipping through your fingers. I am glued to the TV news at the moment."
Other UK bands who have been confirmed by the festival's organisers as in the country and confirmed to play include: Thom Yorke, Muse, Gorillaz, Florence And The Machine, The Specials, Little Boots, Erol Alkan and La Roux.
