The Charlatans: Acoustic guitar gigs are a nice change
Playing gigs with just an acoustic guitar makes a nice change from previous concerts, The Charlatans have said.
Tim Burgess and Mark Collins spoke to the Sabotage Times about their latest tour around the UK.
The decision to go acoustic began when the group played at a small venue in Salford, then decided to seek out similar sites that "give people something a bit different in terms of our songs and hearing another side to them, stripped down to how they were constructed", Burgess remarked.
He claimed these have gone down well with the crowds and there is always an "easy vibe" that makes "a nice change" when the group just use a couple of acoustic guitars to play their repertoire.
It can also prove more cost-effective to tour this way, as the singer said wasting time between travelling to large concerts can be expensive.
He explained the current strategy is to do the acoustic gigs at a venue and have a chat with the crowds before moving on to the next town or city.
The Charlatans are known for hits including How High, One to Another and North Country Boy.
