The Black Keys to head back into the studio over winter
In an interview on BBC 6Music, the band said that they would be looking to lay down tracks for the follow-up to the commercially successful El Camino, released in 2011, in the new year.
Drummer Patrick Carney told presenter Matt Everitt: "That's just how we've operated for twelve years. We're just doing what we do. It will just be the two of us in a studio in North Michigan during the winter – it's going to be awesome."
Carney revealed that the group felt that they needed to go back into the recording studio because they "had to make an album" but noted that it was not unusual for them going back in so soon after they released their latest album.
The duo have had a highly successful 2012 performing at a number of high-profile events with a support headline slot at Reading and Leeds Festival while also playing a residence at London's O2 Arena, the latter being the duo's biggest ever gig in the UK.
