Teacher to drum at the Olympics
Stephen Cook, 38, gave the performance of his life at the auditions for this opportunity, wowing the judges with his skills behind the drum kit, the Echo reported.
Although a latecomer to the instrument, having started when he was in his teens, Mr Cook has been passionately banging away his sticks ever since, developing a real skill for the drums.
Speaking to the news provider, he said that although he has played at a considerable number of venues, this is radically different.
"Nothing compares to 2.45billion people," he said, excitedly.
“I just love the Olympics and to think I'm going to be there on the opening night, and also the closing night, is just incredible. There are going to be 800 drummers from around the world, so I just have to concentrate on myself."
The London 2012 Olympic Games will kick off on July 27th and run until August 12th.
