Music lovers will be able to take part in a music instrument assault course as part of the Glasgow Music 2011/12 season.

The city's Royal Concert Hall, City Halls and Old Fruitmarket will all host free events and activities on Saturday September 25th to mark the start of the season.

Among the activities is the musical assault course, a light and water maze, Musical Lampshades and a Scary Room filled with spine-tingling sounds.

Intriguingly, there will also be a Music Impossible event which will showcase a brand new musical instrument which transforms security laser beams into a music instrument of sorts.

There will also be a number of impromptu performances throughout the day, allowing attendees to see a number of music instruments in action. Each of the groups performing will be showcasing their own wacky interpretation of the opening to 2001's A Space Odyssey.

Finally, there'll be the opportunity for kids to get hands on and see what it is like to be a BBC radio presenter and use computer stations to try and create their own unique soundtrack for various video clips. Budding musicians will be challenged to use instruments to perform their best cover of an AC/DC hit.

All of these activities are free of charge, however, some require booking.
