Synthesizers 'gave power to individuals'
The emergence of affordable synthesizers in the 1980s had a major role to play in shaping the sound of music in that decade, it has been explained.
Martyn Ware, a founder member of both The Human League and Heaven 17, told the Guardian the equipment gave musicians of the era more power to create their own sounds.
"Suddenly the means of production was in the hands of the individual," he explained.
"Not only could you form your own band; you could create your own artistic environment as well."
Ware revealed his career in music got going after purchasing a Korg synthesizer for around £350.
The Human League are set to embark on a UK tour later this month, starting with a gig in Norwich on November 29th.
They will go on to play shows in Sheffield, Wolverhampton, Liverpool, London and Edinburgh, before bringing the gig run to a close in Leicester on December 18th.
